Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi has achieved a Guinness World Records title for hosting the most waterslides in a water park, with 55 in total. The milestone follows a major expansion, cementing its reputation as a global leader in aquatic entertainment and a premier destination for thrill-seekers worldwide.

Yas Waterworld, the flagship water park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the water park with the most waterslides. Owned and operated by Miral, the attraction now boasts an extraordinary collection of 55 slides, ranging from the UAE’s tallest waterslide to adrenaline-fuelled racing slides. This achievement underscores Yas Waterworld’s growing reputation as a world-class destination for aquatic adventure.

The record was celebrated during a special ceremony at the park, where Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, group CEO of Miral, and Rayan Al Haddar, general manager of Yas Waterworld, received the Guinness World Records certificate from Hanane Spiers, the official adjudicator for the MENA region and Türkiye. The recognition was hailed as a landmark moment for Yas Island, further elevating its status as a hub for entertainment and leisure in the region.

“With a record-breaking collection of 55 waterslides, Yas Waterworld continues to strengthen its position as a leading global water park, offering unforgettable experiences for families, friends, and thrill-seekers alike,” said Al Zaabi, reflecting the pride and ambition behind the achievement. The park’s diverse offerings ensure that visitors of all ages can enjoy a mix of exhilarating rides and family-friendly attractions.

The Guinness World Record comes on the heels of Yas Waterworld’s recent expansion, which introduced 11 new rides, slides and attractions. This development has brought the park’s total number of attractions to more than 70, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and guest satisfaction. The expansion not only enhances the variety of experiences available but also demonstrates Miral’s dedication to maintaining Yas Waterworld’s position at the forefront of global water park entertainment.

Yas Waterworld has long been celebrated for its unique blend of Emirati heritage and cutting-edge design, offering visitors a distinctive cultural and recreational experience. The addition of new attractions and the Guinness World Records accolade further solidify its role as a cornerstone of Yas Island’s tourism portfolio, which includes other renowned destinations such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

As Yas Waterworld continues to evolve, the record-breaking achievement serves as both a testament to its success and a promise of more thrilling experiences to come. For Abu Dhabi, it represents another milestone in its journey to becoming a global tourism powerhouse, attracting visitors from across the world to its shores.

Yash Raj Films has invested in Delhi-based Rusk Media, strengthening ties between India’s leading film studio and a fast-growing Gen Z-focused digital entertainment company. The partnership will drive original animation and micro-drama content, with Rusk Media’s Alright! TV platform leading distribution. The move follows Rusk’s ₹100 crore pre-Series C funding round.

Yash Raj Films (YRF), one of India’s most iconic film studios, has announced a strategic investment in Delhi-based digital entertainment startup Rusk Media, signalling a bold step into the future of Gen Z-driven storytelling. The collaboration marks a significant convergence of traditional cinematic expertise with the agility of mobile-first content creation.

The investment comes on the heels of Rusk Media’s successful ₹100 crore pre-Series C funding round, led by Nazara Technologies, with participation from Info Edge Ventures, IvyCap Ventures, and Audacity VC. This infusion of capital has positioned Rusk Media as one of the most promising players in India’s rapidly evolving digital entertainment landscape.

Under the partnership, YRF will play a guiding role in the creative development of original animation and vertical micro-drama content, genres that resonate strongly with younger audiences seeking fast-paced, visually engaging narratives. Rusk Media, meanwhile, will take charge of production and distribution, leveraging its Alright! TV platform and digital channels to deliver content directly to mobile-first consumers.

Founded in 2019 by Mayank Yadav, Karanvir Sofat, and Shantanu Singh, Rusk Media has carved out a niche by creating entertainment tailored for Gen Z audiences. Its portfolio spans fiction, animation, unscripted formats, and gaming, reflecting the diverse consumption habits of a generation that thrives on short-form, interactive, and immersive experiences.

For YRF, the move represents more than just an investment; it is a strategic alignment with the future of content consumption. By partnering with Rusk Media, the studio is extending its creative legacy into new formats that go beyond the big screen, tapping into the cultural pulse of India’s digital-native youth.

Industry observers view the collaboration as a landmark moment in India’s entertainment sector, where established studios are increasingly recognising the importance of digital-first platforms. With Rusk Media’s proven ability to engage Gen Z audiences and YRF’s unmatched storytelling pedigree, the partnership is expected to produce innovative content that bridges cinematic tradition with digital experimentation.

As India’s entertainment ecosystem continues to diversify, the YRF-Rusk alliance underscores a broader trend: the blending of legacy film institutions with agile startups to meet the demands of a generation redefining how stories are consumed. This collaboration could well set the tone for future partnerships between established studios and digital disruptors, shaping the next chapter of Indian entertainment.

Former Union minister and Chennai Central MP Dayanidhi Maran is preparing to launch a new smartphone-led digital entertainment platform alongside his son Karan Maran. The venture, expected to debut this month, arrives amid the continuing fallout from the Maran family’s high-profile dispute over control of media giant Sun TV Network.

The Tamil entertainment industry could soon witness another major shake-up as former Union minister and Chennai Central MP Dayanidhi Maran and his son Karan Maran prepare to launch a new digital entertainment venture aimed at smartphone users and younger audiences increasingly consuming content through mobile platforms.

Sources familiar with the development said the business is expected to be formally unveiled by the end of the current month. Unlike conventional television or streaming models currently dominant in the Tamil entertainment market, the proposed platform is expected to operate in a format that has not previously been explored in the regional entertainment sector. Industry observers believe the initiative is designed to respond to rapidly changing viewing habits, especially among younger consumers who now prefer short-form, interactive and mobile-first entertainment experiences.

The move marks a significant return of the Maran family into active media expansion at a time when the Tamil entertainment ecosystem is undergoing a digital transition. Over the past decade, audiences have steadily migrated from traditional satellite television to streaming platforms, social media video formats and creator-led entertainment ecosystems. Smartphones have become the primary screen for millions of users in India, fundamentally altering how regional-language content is produced, distributed and monetised.

Tamil entertainment companies have already begun adapting to this shift through web series, influencer collaborations and mobile-centric programming. However, analysts say the Marans’ planned venture could attempt to go beyond standard streaming by experimenting with newer audience-engagement formats, potentially combining entertainment, social interaction and creator-driven content into a single ecosystem.

The entry of Dayanidhi Maran into the entertainment business carries wider significance because of the dramatic developments within the family’s media empire over the past year. Dayanidhi and his elder brother Kalanithi Maran became embroiled in a high-profile legal dispute concerning shareholding and control issues linked to Sun TV Network, one of India’s largest regional broadcasting companies.

The dispute drew considerable attention in political and corporate circles because the Sun Group has long been one of the most influential media networks in South India, particularly in Tamil Nadu. The company’s dominance in television broadcasting helped shape the regional media landscape for decades through entertainment channels, film distribution and FM radio operations.

Against this backdrop, the new venture is being viewed not merely as a business expansion but also as an attempt to carve out a distinct digital identity separate from the traditional television-driven model associated with the Sun brand. The involvement of Karan Maran suggests a generational transition as well, reflecting how legacy media families are increasingly relying on younger leadership to navigate digital audiences and emerging technologies.

Media analysts say the timing is important. India’s regional content market is currently witnessing intense competition among streaming platforms, YouTube creators, short-video applications and independent production houses. Tamil content, in particular, has gained substantial traction across digital platforms due to its strong cinema culture, diaspora audiences and rapidly growing internet penetration in smaller towns and rural areas.

The rise of artificial intelligence-driven recommendation systems, creator monetisation tools and personalised mobile viewing has also transformed audience expectations. Entertainment is no longer consumed only through fixed schedules or long-form programming. Instead, viewers increasingly demand instant access, personalised experiences and highly shareable formats optimised for smartphones.

While details about the venture’s exact business model remain closely guarded, insiders suggest that technology and user engagement will play a central role in the platform’s strategy. The project is also expected to focus heavily on Tamil-language audiences initially before considering wider regional expansion.

For the Maran family, whose name has long been associated with broadcast television dominance, the upcoming launch represents both continuity and reinvention. As legacy media businesses across India confront declining linear television audiences and the disruptive power of digital consumption, the success or failure of this experiment could offer an important glimpse into the future direction of regional entertainment entrepreneurship.

Terribly Tiny Tales and NIVEA India have joined forces for Kabhi Kabhi Urvashi, a four-part YouTube micro-series blending humour and emotional realism. Built around everyday anxieties and self-care moments, the collaboration reflects the growing role of short-form branded entertainment in connecting with digitally native audiences.

The increasingly crowded world of branded content is seeing a shift away from overt advertising and towards storytelling that slips naturally into the rhythms of everyday life. Into that space arrives Kabhi Kabhi Urvashi, a new four-part YouTube micro-series from NIVEA India and Terribly Tiny Tales, which uses the simple ritual of applying lip balm as an unexpected emotional thread connecting moments of anxiety, comfort and self-expression.

Streaming on the TTT YouTube channel, the series unfolds through the life of Urvashi, a young talent manager balancing demanding creators, career uncertainty and the familiar chaos of navigating one’s twenties. Around her orbit are Veer, her unpredictable creator-boss, and Ojas, whose arrival complicates life in ways that feel both untimely and inevitable.

The series stars Bhagyashree Limaye, Gaurav Alugh and Jeet Singh Panwar, and addresses themes that have become increasingly familiar to Gen Z audiences: loneliness hidden behind screens, cycles of overthinking, workplace stress, and the recurring challenge of explaining unconventional careers to parents who remain unconvinced after the twenty-fifth attempt.

Built in TTT’s conversational style, Kabhi Kabhi Urvashi leans into warmth and digital-age humour while treating emotional struggles with sincerity. Rather than positioning a product at the centre of the story, the show attempts to place NIVEA’s lip care range within moments that feel ordinary and recognisable: before work calls, during endless doom-scrolling sessions, amid awkward conversations or in fleeting pauses of self-care.

The approach reflects a broader evolution in content marketing, where brands increasingly seek cultural relevance rather than straightforward visibility. Younger audiences, raised on short-form video and social media storytelling, often respond more readily to content that mirrors their own lives than to traditional promotional campaigns.

Anuj Gosalia, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Terribly Tiny Tales, said the idea emerged from observing small habits people perform almost unconsciously. He noted that lip balm felt like one of those deeply personal yet universal routines, adding that the team wanted to create something that resembled a conversation rather than an advertisement.

For NIVEA India, the project represents an effort to align with changing viewing habits. Shweta Dalal, Marketing Director at the company, said younger consumers increasingly gravitate towards short, mobile-first storytelling formats that feel relatable and culturally connected. She described the collaboration as a way of participating in stories that reflect everyday experiences rather than simply inserting products into content.

The campaign will extend beyond the series itself, with social and creator-led activations designed to deepen engagement and encourage audience participation.

As brands compete for attention in a landscape dominated by scrolling thumbs and shrinking attention spans, Kabhi Kabhi Urvashi points towards a growing category of entertainment where products no longer interrupt the story. Instead, they attempt to become part of it — woven into narratives audiences may already recognise from their own lives.

Collective Artists Network has unveiled an AI-powered avatar of bestselling author Amish Tripathi, launching a short-form content slate rooted in Indian history and mythology. The initiative blends technology with tradition, aiming to reimagine cultural storytelling for digital audiences through immersive, scalable narratives beginning May 2026.

In a move that underscores the growing convergence of technology and cultural storytelling, Collective Artists Network has introduced an AI-powered avatar of Amish Tripathi, one of India’s most widely read contemporary writers. The initiative marks a decisive shift in how literary voices may be extended into the digital realm, positioning tradition-rich narratives within a rapidly evolving content ecosystem.

Tripathi, whose works have consistently drawn from Indian mythology, history and philosophical traditions, is widely regarded as the fastest-selling author in Indian publishing. His storytelling, deeply rooted in epics and ancient cultural frameworks, has already reshaped how younger audiences engage with classical Indian themes. The creation of his AI avatar represents not merely a technological experiment but a strategic expansion of that narrative influence into new formats and platforms.

The avatar will serve as the central figure in a premium short-form content slate, forming the backbone of a dedicated AI Amish Tripathi channel. Developed in collaboration with Collective Artists Network, the slate is expected to focus on history, legends, philosophy and immersive storytelling, presenting them in formats designed for contemporary consumption. The emphasis is on creating a distinct digital universe where ancient narratives are not simply retold but reinterpreted with a modern sensibility.

At the heart of the project lies an ambition to develop culturally rich intellectual properties that transcend conventional storytelling. By extending Tripathi’s presence through an AI-driven persona, the initiative seeks to maintain the authority and authenticity associated with the author while achieving scalability across digital platforms. This hybrid approach blends human creativity with machine-driven adaptability, opening up possibilities for storytelling that is both deeply rooted and widely accessible.

The creative development of the content slate is being shaped by Collective Artists Network’s Historyverse division, which has been tasked with crafting a narrative tone that balances devotion with contemporaneity. The approach aims to retain the philosophical depth and cultural nuance of traditional Indian stories while making them engaging for a generation accustomed to fast-paced digital content. The result is envisioned as an ecosystem where intellectual storytelling meets entertainment, without diluting its cultural significance.

For Tripathi, the venture represents a natural evolution of storytelling itself. He has described the use of artificial intelligence as an “exciting new frontier”, highlighting its potential to deepen audience engagement and expand access to complex narratives. His collaboration with Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and Group CEO of Collective Artists Network, is positioned as a meeting point between cultural insight and technological innovation. Tripathi has emphasised that the partnership brings together an understanding of India’s heritage with the demands of modern audiences, enabling a reimagining of how stories can be experienced.

Subramaniam, for his part, views the initiative as part of a broader shift in storytelling paradigms. He has pointed to the intersection of culture and technology as the defining space for the future of content creation. With Tripathi already credited for transforming how younger Indians engage with epics and puranas, the collaboration aims to extend that transformation into a scalable digital format. The goal is to bring Indian history and philosophy into mainstream digital consumption in ways that are both meaningful and compelling.

The launch also reflects a wider industry trend towards the creation of AI-driven personalities and virtual influencers. However, what distinguishes this project is its grounding in cultural heritage rather than purely commercial or entertainment-driven objectives. By anchoring the initiative in India’s rich narrative traditions, Collective Artists Network appears to be positioning itself at the forefront of a new genre of content—one that blends education, philosophy and storytelling within an accessible digital framework.

As digital audiences increasingly seek content that is both engaging and meaningful, the timing of the launch is significant. The rise of short-form video platforms and the growing appetite for culturally resonant content have created a fertile ground for such experiments. The AI avatar of Tripathi is expected to cater to this demand, offering bite-sized yet intellectually rich narratives that resonate across demographics.

The rollout of the AI avatar and its accompanying content slate is scheduled to begin in May 2026, with distribution planned across multiple digital platforms. This phased launch is likely to test audience reception while allowing for iterative development of the content ecosystem. If successful, it could pave the way for similar initiatives involving other authors, historians and cultural figures, fundamentally altering the relationship between creators and their audiences.

Beyond its immediate impact, the project raises broader questions about authorship, authenticity and the role of artificial intelligence in creative expression. While AI offers unprecedented opportunities for scale and accessibility, it also challenges traditional notions of storytelling as a uniquely human endeavour. In this context, the AI Amish Tripathi avatar may serve as both a prototype and a point of debate, illustrating the possibilities and complexities of this emerging frontier.

For now, the initiative stands as a bold attempt to bridge India’s past and future, using technology to breathe new life into age-old stories. Whether it succeeds in reshaping the digital storytelling landscape will depend not only on technological execution but also on its ability to retain the emotional and cultural depth that has long defined Indian narratives.

Lalit Gangwar, a founding member of Pocket FM, has been elevated to Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s global audio business operations, signalling a strategic push to scale internationally and deepen its presence in the rapidly evolving audio entertainment market.

In a move that underscores its growing ambitions in the global audio entertainment space, Pocket FM has appointed Lalit Gangwar as its Chief Operating Officer. A founding member of the company, Gangwar steps into the expanded role at a time when the platform is accelerating its efforts to scale internationally and consolidate its foothold in a highly competitive market.

Gangwar’s elevation reflects both continuity and confidence within the organisation. Having been instrumental in shaping the company’s early trajectory, he brings with him a deep understanding of its product, audience, and business model. His appointment signals a commitment to leveraging that institutional knowledge as the company navigates the next phase of growth.

As COO, Gangwar will lead all global business operations for Pocket FM’s audio vertical, a core segment that has seen significant traction in recent years. The platform, known for its expansive library of audio series spanning genres such as romance, thriller, and self-development, has tapped into a growing appetite for on-demand storytelling, particularly among younger, mobile-first audiences.

The audio entertainment landscape has undergone a notable transformation, driven by increasing smartphone penetration, affordable data, and a shift towards multitasking-friendly content formats. In this context, Pocket FM has emerged as a key player by blending long-form storytelling with episodic engagement strategies, creating a model that encourages sustained listener retention.

Gangwar’s leadership is expected to play a critical role in refining and scaling this model across global markets. With expansion already underway in regions beyond India, including North America, the company is focusing on localised content strategies, creator partnerships, and monetisation frameworks tailored to diverse audiences.

Industry observers note that the role of COO in a rapidly scaling digital platform is pivotal, particularly in balancing operational efficiency with creative innovation. Gangwar’s remit is likely to encompass not only revenue growth and market expansion but also the optimisation of content pipelines, technology infrastructure, and user experience.

His journey within Pocket FM mirrors the broader evolution of India’s startup ecosystem, where founding team members often transition into strategic leadership roles as companies mature. This continuity can provide stability during periods of rapid change, ensuring that growth remains aligned with the company’s original vision.

The appointment also comes amid intensifying competition in the audio space, with global players and regional platforms vying for listener attention. Differentiation through original content, immersive formats, and data-driven personalisation has become increasingly important, areas where Pocket FM has already demonstrated considerable strength.

For Pocket FM, the elevation of Lalit Gangwar is more than a leadership change; it is a strategic signal of intent. As the company continues to expand its global footprint, the focus will be on scaling sustainably while maintaining the narrative depth and engagement that have defined its success so far.

MassiveMusic MENA has appointed Tara El Chami to support its sonic branding growth as demand for audio-led brand identity rises across the Middle East. With extensive cross-industry experience, she will lead regional client strategies, helping brands harness sound to build recognition, emotional connection, and measurable business impact.

MassiveMusic MENA has announced the appointment of Tara El Chami as it sharpens its focus on sonic branding, signalling the growing importance of sound in shaping brand identity across the Middle East. The move comes at a time when companies are increasingly turning to audio to create deeper, more memorable connections with consumers.

El Chami brings over seven years of experience spanning media, entertainment, FMCG, and telecommunications, having led integrated campaigns for a diverse portfolio of global and regional brands. Her previous collaborations include Nestlé, Red Bull, Billboard Arabia, Asharq Network, and Careem, reflecting a career built at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and audience engagement.

In her new role, El Chami will oversee regional client relationships while helping brands craft distinctive sonic identities that resonate across multiple platforms. Her appointment underscores MassiveMusic MENA’s ambition to strengthen its presence in a market where cultural richness and evolving media consumption habits offer fertile ground for innovation in sound-led branding.

Industry observers note that sonic branding is rapidly gaining traction as brands seek to differentiate themselves in crowded digital environments. Sound, unlike visuals alone, has the ability to enhance memory retention and forge emotional bonds, making it a powerful tool in long-term brand building. Pierre Carnet of MassiveMusic highlighted that El Chami’s expertise will be instrumental in supporting the company’s growth trajectory, particularly as demand accelerates in key markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

El Chami herself emphasised the enduring impact of audio in branding, arguing that sound plays a critical role in shaping recognition and loyalty. In an era of fragmented attention spans, she believes audio cues can linger in the consumer’s mind far longer than visual elements, offering brands a unique opportunity to remain top of mind.

The Middle East’s deep-rooted musical heritage, combined with a rapidly expanding pool of creative talent, provides a strong foundation for the evolution of sonic branding. While the discipline is still emerging in the region, its adoption is gathering pace as companies look for more immersive and emotionally engaging ways to connect with audiences.

MassiveMusic MENA’s expansion since 2022 reflects this shift. The company has worked with a mix of global and regional brands, including TikTok, Nakheel, AROYA Cruises, and Banque Saudi Fransi, delivering campaigns that integrate creativity with data and technology.

Backed by Songtradr, MassiveMusic combines analytical insights with artistic direction to produce measurable business outcomes through sound. As brands increasingly recognise the strategic value of audio, the company’s latest appointment signals a continued commitment to leading this transformation in the region.

The “Making Meaning” episode of The Golden Thread explores how gold transcends material value to shape culture, belief, art, and science. From ancient temples to quantum computing, it reveals gold as a powerful symbol and tool, connecting human history with future technological frontiers in unexpected and profound ways.

Materials are often judged by utility and price, the “Making Meaning” episode from The Golden Thread, an immersive documentary series by the World Gold Council, offers a strikingly different perspective. It positions gold not merely as a precious metal, but as a profound storyteller—one that has shaped human civilisation across centuries and continues to influence the future in ways both visible and unseen.

Part of a wider series examining gold’s historical, cultural and technological significance, the episode delves into how meaning itself is constructed through this enduring element. Gold, it argues, is far more than a store of wealth or ornamentation; it is a symbol that has consistently conveyed power, divinity, permanence and aspiration across diverse cultures and epochs.

From ancient civilisations to modern laboratories, gold’s ability to carry meaning is both universal and adaptable. The episode presents a tapestry of narratives—twelve interconnected stories—that range from the philosophical to the scientific. It examines artefacts such as the Lycurgus Cup, a fourth-century object known for its colour-changing properties, illustrating how gold has long been associated with mystery and transformation.

The cultural resonance of gold is perhaps most vividly captured through its religious and artistic expressions. The programme offers immersive visuals of the Lakshmi Narayani Temple in India, where gold is not simply decorative but symbolic of divine presence and spiritual wealth. Here, gold transcends its physical form, becoming a medium through which belief systems are articulated and sustained.

Art, too, finds renewed meaning in gold. The episode highlights the work of contemporary artists such as Tawny Chatmon, who reinterprets historical imagery using gold frames, challenging and reframing narratives of identity and heritage. Through such reinterpretations, gold becomes a tool for dialogue—bridging past and present while questioning established histories.

Yet, the narrative does not remain confined to history or aesthetics. In a compelling turn, “Making Meaning” connects gold to one of the most advanced frontiers of modern science: quantum computing. According to the documentary, gold’s unique properties are being harnessed in quantum systems, potentially helping to solve some of the universe’s most complex mysteries. This juxtaposition—ancient symbolism alongside cutting-edge technology—underscores gold’s enduring relevance.

The episode also reflects on gold’s foundational role in economic systems. From early coinage, such as the Croesus coin—among the first standardised currencies—to its continued status as a financial safe haven, gold has consistently been associated with trust and stability. Its ability to embody value, both tangible and symbolic, has made it a cornerstone of human exchange and economic development.

What emerges from “Making Meaning” is a layered understanding of gold as both object and idea. It is a material that not only reflects human aspirations but actively shapes them. Whether in sacred spaces, artistic studios or scientific laboratories, gold operates as a connector—linking disparate domains of human experience through a shared language of significance.

The broader series reinforces this perspective by exploring gold’s multifaceted role across history, culture and innovation. Presented by mathematician and broadcaster Hannah Fry, The Golden Thread seeks to demonstrate how a single element can influence everything from technological advancement to cultural identity.

In a world increasingly driven by rapid technological change, the episode’s central message feels particularly resonant. It suggests that meaning is not static but continually evolving—and that materials like gold play a crucial role in shaping how societies interpret and navigate that evolution.

Ultimately, “Making Meaning” is less about gold itself and more about humanity’s relationship with it. It invites viewers to reconsider what gives objects their significance and how those meanings are constructed, shared and transformed over time. In doing so, it positions gold not just as a relic of the past, but as an active participant in the unfolding story of human progress.
