Affogato Brand Design has unveiled Cake Social, a custom cake brand designed to elevate birthdays, weddings, and every kind of celebration. Rooted in the belief that a cake should be more than dessert, Cake Social positions each creation as the centrepiece of an occasion, transforming gatherings into immersive visual experiences.

The brand’s philosophy is simple yet striking: every cake is a story, every slice a memory, and every design a spectacle. By treating cakes as art forms, Cake Social extends the joy of celebration beyond taste, weaving together design, craft, and emotion. Whether it is a towering wedding cake or a playful birthday creation, the brand ensures that each piece embodies the spirit of the event it represents.

Affogato Brand Design’s approach reflects a growing trend in experiential branding, where products are no longer just consumed but celebrated as cultural symbols. Cake Social’s emphasis on visual storytelling and emotional resonance makes it more than a patisserie—it is a brand that curates moments, turning milestones into lasting impressions.

With its launch, Cake Social enters a space where food, design, and memory converge, offering a fresh perspective on how celebrations can be elevated through artistry. It is not merely about baking; it is about shaping experiences that linger long after the candles are blown out.

Affogato Brand Design has introduced Cake Social, a custom cake brand for birthdays, weddings, and celebrations. Built on the idea that cakes are the centrepiece of occasions, the brand transforms them into visual experiences that extend beyond taste, blending design, craft, and emotion to create memorable, artful celebrations.

London Packaging Week spotlighted how global cultural moments like the FIFA World Cup are reshaping branding. Industry leaders argued that relevance comes not from sponsorship but from authentic cultural participation. Packaging, collaborations and creative storytelling are now central to how brands earn legitimacy, connect locally, and endure beyond visibility.

Every four years, the FIFA World Cup transforms daily rhythms into a shared global broadcast. Yet, as creative leaders at London Packaging Week emphasised, shared attention does not equate to shared meaning. Brands that endure are those that contribute to culture rather than merely sponsor it, finding resonance in local contexts while participating in global narratives.

Nick Vaus of Free The Birds noted that cultural relevance cannot be built through a singular global strategy. “Relevance is built through shared meaning,” he explained. “The strongest brands don’t impose themselves onto culture; they find where they naturally fit within it.” This shift underscores that global consistency alone is insufficient; brands must adapt to local rituals, emotions and codes.

Matt Down of Deuce Studio highlighted football’s universality as a lesson for branding. Campaigns like Adidas’ Backyard Legends succeed because they tap into familiar experiences—playing football with friends—while allowing each culture to tell its own story. “A brand keeps its relevance not by flattening everyone into one global message, but by creating space for local expression,” he said.

Natalie Alexander of Butterfly Cannon reinforced the importance of balancing local nuance with universal emotion. Fans’ rituals, superstitions and banter differ across communities, but shared truths unite them. Packaging and design, she argued, must capture this emotional texture rather than simply commemorate events. “The best World Cup limited editions don’t talk to football fans. They talk like football fans.”

David Beare of Bulletproof stressed legitimacy over visibility. “The brands that succeed are rarely the ones that simply sponsor the event. They earn their place inside the culture.” Examples like Palace x Nike’s England collaboration demonstrate how fashion, sport and identity collide to create powerful cultural infrastructure.

Adam Ryan of Pentawards observed that packaging now plays a pivotal role in cultural participation. Limited editions and collaborations are increasingly designed to be kept, shared and remembered, extending relevance beyond advertising. Coca-Cola’s partnership with Panini, rooted in the fan ritual of collecting stickers, exemplifies how brands build upon existing behaviours rather than inventing new ones.

As Boma Krijgsman of Thirst concluded, the most effective campaigns reflect how football already lives in everyday contexts—stadiums, living rooms, corner shops and street gatherings. “Limited edition packaging might get attention, but culture is what creates connection,” she said.

London Packaging Week revealed a defining shift: sponsorship buys visibility, but design creates meaning. In cultural moments like the World Cup, the brands that matter are those that contribute something audiences would miss if they were absent. Long after the final whistle, it is meaning—not visibility—that endures.

The 2025 Beverages Winners in Spirits Dark celebrated international design excellence, awarding Gold to GRAN MAIZAL (Mexico) and Gingerbread (Slovakia). Silver went to entries from the UK, China, and Italy, while Bronze recognised Australia, the USA, and the UK. The awards highlight global innovation in spirits branding and packaging.

The 2025 Beverages Winners in the Spirits Dark category have underscored the international breadth of creativity in drinks branding and packaging, with a line-up that reflects both heritage and contemporary flair. The awards, judged on design excellence and storytelling impact, brought together diverse entries from Mexico to Australia, each demonstrating how visual identity can elevate the consumer experience.

At the pinnacle, GRAN MAIZAL by HUMAN (Mexico) secured Gold, its design rooted in cultural authenticity and modern craftsmanship. Alongside it, Gingerbread by Pergamen (Slovakia) also claimed Gold, a striking example of how festive nostalgia can be translated into packaging that resonates with both tradition and innovation. These winners highlight how design can capture emotion and heritage while appealing to global audiences.

Silver medals were awarded to three distinctive projects. Breuckelen Distilling’s 77 Whiskey by Thirst (UK) impressed with its bold reinterpretation of classic whisky cues, while Nianque – Guyue Longshan Huangjiu by SHENZHEN ORACLE CREATIVE DESIGN CO., LTD (China) showcased the elegance of Chinese heritage through refined detailing. Completing the Silver trio, Amaro Seneghe – Bitter Fusion Experience by BasileADV/Vimem (Italy) demonstrated how regional authenticity can be fused with contemporary design language, creating a product that feels both rooted and forward-looking.

Bronze recognition reflected the global spread of creativity. Strutter Whisky by Denomination (Australia) brought a modern edge to whisky branding, while Edmond’s Honor by Vault49 (USA) emphasised bold storytelling through striking visuals. From the UK, Douglas Laing’s Strathearn Single Malt Scotch Whisky by Douglas Laing & Co. earned Bronze for its balance of tradition and modernity, reinforcing the enduring appeal of Scotch whisky design.

Together, these winners illustrate how the spirits industry continues to embrace design as a strategic tool, not merely for aesthetics but for shaping consumer perception and market positioning. Packaging has become a vital medium for storytelling, allowing brands to communicate heritage, innovation, and emotional resonance in ways that transcend borders.

The 2025 awards also highlight the growing importance of cross-cultural creativity. Mexican and Slovak entries at the Gold level demonstrate how local narratives can achieve global recognition, while Silver and Bronze winners from China, Italy, Australia, the USA, and the UK reflect the universality of design language. This diversity underscores the role of design competitions in celebrating not only technical skill but also cultural dialogue, where each bottle becomes a canvas for identity and imagination.

As the spirits market grows increasingly competitive, these honours serve as a reminder that design excellence is central to differentiation. Whether through heritage cues, modern reinterpretations, or bold storytelling, the winners of the Spirits Dark category exemplify how creativity can transform products into experiences, ensuring that every pour is accompanied by a narrative worth savouring.

Kalyptus Aperitivo Botanico channels the landscapes and traditions of Trentino–Alto Adige into a herb-based aperitif with a fresh design by Break. Produced in South Tyrol, the bottle and packaging evoke alpine nature with lightness and elegance, creating a contemporary classic that sparks a sensory journey.

Kalyptus Aperitivo Botanico invites consumers to rediscover the restorative spirit of the Italian Alps through a drink rooted in herbs and authenticity. Produced in South Tyrol, the aperitif reflects the growing demand for natural ingredients and genuine flavours, even in convivial settings such as the aperitif ritual.

The company entrusted Break with a comprehensive design project that extended beyond the label to encompass the entire packaging system. Central to this vision is a bottle that evokes Trentino’s nature without imitation, using a light and floral language to balance spontaneity with elegance. The design avoids fleeting trends, instead aiming to establish a contemporary classic.

Visual identity plays a crucial role in reinforcing the brand’s connection to place. Colours inspired by alpine meadows and a floral profile echo the bottle’s form, while continuity is achieved through a distinctive detail: the label is not merely applied but set into the glass itself. This integration lends personality and recognisability, ensuring the pack feels both fresh and enduring.

The final design embodies strong character while remaining light and approachable. More than packaging, it becomes the beginning of a sensory journey into Trentino–Alto Adige’s nature and traditions, positioning Kalyptus Aperitivo Botanico as a refined yet restorative choice for modern aperitivo culture.

Jus-Rol, Ireland and the UK’s leading pastry dough brand, has unveiled a refreshed packaging design created with Brandon. The new identity modernises the heritage brand, unifies its chilled, frozen, and ‘Ready to Create’ ranges, and introduces bold colour, typography, and playful graphics to elevate shelf impact and consumer preference.

Jus-Rol, the pastry giant synonymous with home baking across Ireland and the UK, has revealed a striking new packaging identity set to roll out this June. The redesign, developed in partnership with brand design agency Brandon, represents a significant evolution for the market leader, balancing modernisation with respect for its heritage.

The brief to Brandon was clear: modernise the brand, simplify navigation across its extensive range, and encourage stronger consumer preference. In response, Brandon’s strategy and design teams restructured Jus-Rol’s brand architecture and created a packaging system that unites existing products while providing flexibility for future innovation.

The refreshed packs feature a host of new design elements. A bold “BAKE BOLD” rosette now sits proudly on pack, alongside a gold swoosh inspired by the stroke of a pastry brush. Food-centred product photography ensures appetite appeal, while hand-illustrated icons add a playful, approachable touch. Typography has been updated to sharpen recognition and deliver a contemporary edge.

Rachel Griffiths, design director at Brandon Consultants, explained the creative thinking: “At the heart of the new brand is our sunburst graphic device. Representing the fun in home baking and the enjoyment of the process, we’ve designed it to bring a positive, energetic and uplifting feel to the brand.”

Colour plays a pivotal role in the redesign. In a category often dominated by muted tones, Jus-Rol’s new palette is bold and vibrant, balancing familiar cues with distinctive brand equity. The result is packaging that stands out across chilled and frozen aisles, elevating Jus-Rol’s presence wherever it appears.

The project demonstrates how a heritage brand can evolve without losing its essence. Jus-Rol’s values of transparency and sourcing integrity remain visible, but are now wrapped in a personality that feels celebratory rather than purely functional. By combining clarity with character, the new identity positions Jus-Rol to strengthen loyalty and attract new audiences in a competitive category.

Rolling out across Ireland and the UK this month, the redesign underscores Jus-Rol’s ambition to lead not just in sales but in brand experience. For consumers, the new look promises easier navigation, stronger recognition, and a more joyful connection to home baking. For Jus-Rol, it marks a confident step into the future while honouring the traditions that made it iconic.

Riiing reimagines the cowbell as a compact cream container for takeaway coffee, blending dairy heritage with modern design. With metallic finishes, embossed typography, and a bell shape that doubles as a keychain or charm, it turns packaging into a collectible accessory, forging emotional connections beyond consumption.

The cowbell has long been a symbol of dairy farming, its distinctive silhouette echoing across pastures. Now, that same form has been reimagined in Riiing, a compact cream container designed for takeaway coffee. By transforming a familiar agricultural icon into packaging, the project bridges heritage and modern convenience with striking originality.

Riiing’s design philosophy challenges the notion of packaging as disposable. Instead, it invites users to keep the object beyond its initial purpose. The bell shape naturally lends itself to a second life as a keychain or bag charm, ensuring the packaging remains part of everyday life long after the cream has been consumed. This duality — functional container and personal accessory — creates a rare emotional bond between product and user.

Metallic finishes distinguish cream varieties and fat percentages, while reinforcing the collectible character of the object. Embossed typography and the tactile metal surface reference traditional dairy equipment, grounding the design in authenticity and origin. The result is packaging that feels both industrial and intimate, a nod to the tools of milk production and the rituals of coffee drinking.

By merging utility with sentiment, Riiing elevates packaging into a cultural artefact. It is not simply a vessel for cream but a keepsake that resonates with memory, tradition, and personal identity. In doing so, it demonstrates how design can extend the life of everyday objects, transforming them from fleeting consumables into lasting companions.

Graeme views packaging as both shared experience and commercial object, requiring strategic and aesthetic balance. London exemplifies this visibility, with own-label ranges treated as desirable. Luxury is fluid, coherence key. His outward-looking discipline, sharpened in Australia, sustains creativity—continuing at London Packaging Week 2026, where global perspectives meet.

For Graeme, design begins with context. He insists that packaging is not simply a decorative surface but a shared experience that shapes consumer perception from the outset. Yet he is pragmatic: packaging remains a commercial object, requiring strategic consideration alongside aesthetic strength. “These projects are significant investments,” he explains, highlighting the need for balance between creativity and commercial return.

London, in his view, exemplifies this balance. The city has long had a strong packaging culture, but what distinguishes it today is its visibility. Even supermarket shelves, he observes, demonstrate a level of design consideration that is not always present elsewhere. Own-label ranges, once treated as secondary, now feel desirable and integrated into a wider brand world. This shift reflects how design has become central to everyday retail experiences, not confined to luxury or niche categories.

Luxury itself, Graeme argues, is no longer fixed. It can be quiet and restrained, expressive and bold, or even casual. What matters is coherence and intent, not adherence to a single style. This fluidity reflects broader cultural changes, where consumers value authenticity and clarity of vision over rigid definitions of prestige. For designers, the challenge lies in ensuring that packaging communicates this coherence, regardless of whether the brand chooses understatement or exuberance.

Graeme often returns to the idea of perspective—not as positioning, but as practice. Based in Australia, he finds that distance sharpens the need to look outward. Travel reinforces this discipline, while observation sustains it. In a category defined by heritage, ritual and constant reinvention, such outward-looking practice becomes its own creative language. It is not a style or a signature, but a way of seeing that allows brands to remain relevant while respecting tradition.

This approach resonates strongly within drinks branding, packaging and retail experience. The sector thrives on storytelling, ritual and sensory engagement, yet it must continually adapt to shifting consumer expectations. Graeme’s insistence on perspective as practice reflects a broader truth: successful packaging design is not about imposing a singular aesthetic, but about cultivating a disciplined openness to global influences.

London Packaging Week, taking place on 16 & 17 September 2026 at Excel London, embodies this conversation. The event brings together international voices to explore how brands are built, expressed and experienced across categories. For those working in drinks branding and beyond, it offers a platform to examine how packaging can balance heritage with innovation, coherence with diversity, and commercial strategy with creative ambition.

Graeme’s reflections remind us that packaging is more than a surface—it is a cultural artefact, a commercial tool and a creative language. In London, where design visibility permeates even the most everyday products, this truth is especially evident. And as global perspectives converge at London Packaging Week, the dialogue between strategy and creativity, heritage and reinvention, continues to evolve.

At the 2026 Chelsea Flower Show, the Pantone Color Institute discovered a strikingly design-led approach to floristry. Colour was used not just decoratively but as atmosphere and structure, with immersive displays built around singular palettes. Sculptural installations fused flowers with charred wood, volcanic rock, and dried botanicals, creating sensorial, contemporary experiences.

The Chelsea Flower Show has long been a showcase for horticultural innovation, but in 2026 it became a stage for a deeper exploration of colour as an emotional and structural force. For the Pantone Color Institute, whose annual visit is about seeking inspiration and fresh perspectives, this year’s event offered a vivid reminder of how floristry is evolving into a design-led discipline.

What stood out most was the way colour was treated not as mere decoration but as atmosphere, architecture, and emotional impact. Across the show, displays were conceived as immersive environments rather than isolated floral highlights. Flowers were combined with unexpected materials—charred wood, volcanic rock, and dried botanicals—creating sculptural installations that blurred the boundaries between garden design, art, and architecture.

These installations were built around singular colour stories, each palette defining the mood and identity of the space. Volcanic blacks paired with mineral peaches evoked a sense of elemental drama, while hyper-saturated pinks and solar oranges created vibrant, almost cinematic experiences. Visitors were not simply observing flowers; they were stepping into environments where colour shaped perception and emotion.

The sensorial quality of these displays was striking. By integrating natural and raw materials with bold colour narratives, designers created spaces that felt contemporary and deeply visual. The result was not just a celebration of horticulture but a demonstration of how floristry can function as a medium for storytelling, atmosphere, and cultural expression.

For Pantone, whose work is rooted in understanding how colour influences human experience, the Chelsea Flower Show offered a living laboratory of ideas. The emphasis on colour as a structural and emotional force aligned with broader trends in design, where palettes are increasingly used to define identity and mood rather than simply embellish.

The 2026 show underscored how floristry is becoming more conceptual, more immersive, and more connected to design thinking. It suggested a future where gardens and floral installations are not just about beauty but about creating environments that resonate emotionally and visually. For Pantone, the inspiration drawn from Chelsea will likely inform its ongoing exploration of colour’s role in shaping how we experience the world.

Sump Design has created the brand identity and packaging for Beautiful Days tea, inspired by the idea that mornings bring renewal. A sun motif, rice grey and warm orange palette, plus gold-foil textures distinguish varieties. The design reflects mountain origins and daily rituals, positioning tea as a serene, uplifting experience.

Sump Design has unveiled the brand identity and packaging for Beautiful Days, a tea brand built around the concept that “Beautiful Days begin at dawn.” The identity translates the sun into a central motif, with a logo referencing mountains, roof tiles and morning light to evoke both the tea’s mountain-grown origin and the calm ritual of starting a new day.

The design palette of rice grey and warm orange establishes a clean, approachable tone, while colour coding and gold-foil textures distinguish tea varieties and create a consistent hierarchy across the range. This careful balance of symbolism and materiality ensures that the brand feels both grounded in nature and elevated in presentation.

By embedding the imagery of dawn into its visual language, Sump Design has crafted an identity that resonates with the rhythm of daily life. The interplay of light, texture and colour positions Beautiful Days as more than a beverage—it becomes a ritual of renewal, a reminder that each morning offers a fresh beginning.

The project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform packaging into storytelling. With its harmonious blend of cultural cues and contemporary aesthetics, Beautiful Days captures the essence of serenity and optimism, inviting consumers to embrace the calm promise of a new day with every cup.
